To provide strategic advice and counsel to the OMA Board of Directors, staff and industry members (as required) on reputational and public relations programs, issues and initiatives aimed at enhancing the image of mining and member companies in Ontario, with a focus on boosting labour market participation in the mining sector and attracting the next generation workforce.
OMA Strategic Plan Goal - To improve the reputation and public image of mining in Ontario amongst key audiences including: Gen Z ‘youth’ – the next generation workforce and their parents, Indigenous communities, government, educational institutions, new Canadians, immigrant-serving agencies and community organizations, ENGOs, media, and the general public, in order to support the creation of a robust workforce pipeline required to sustain current operations and grow the production of minerals and metals required to meet 21st century demand.
OMA Committees
OMA members are encouraged to participate in the work of committees, which focus on issues of particular relevance to our industry. The practical work carried out by the expert committees is instrumental in accomplishing the association's goals and to ensuring that our strategy matches members' needs. Active involvement in committees also fosters collegiality and generates relationships that are ongoing sources of professional support, meaningful exchange, inspiration and ideas.

To promote the sharing of information and best management practices amongst Energy Managers at OMA member companies. The committee will be responsible for policy development and advocacy; its focus will be on the technical roles and responsibilities of Energy Managers, including planning, regulating, and monitoring energy usage within their operation, with the aim of increasing energy efficiency.
OMA Strategic Plan Goal – To enable information sharing among member companies’ Energy Managers, so they can support efficient and resilient energy systems at the most effective cost.
To support Ontario Mining Association members in fulfilling their commitment to continually improve environmental performance, while working to ensure that Ontario regulations and policies affecting mining are equitable and science-based.
OMA Strategic Plan Goal- To assist Ontario Mining Association members to continually improve their environmental performance through innovation and collaborative action; to understand and comply with legal requirements; to approach regulators with proposals for improved efficiencies in approval processes; to prevent pollution; and to practice environmental stewardship.

Innovation and Clean Technology
To advance innovation in Ontario mining operations and enhancing our competitiveness by leveraging new and emerging technologies to meet Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives.
OMA Strategic Goal – To identify and leverage opportunities to implement innovation and clean technology at mine operations, ensuring that the Ontario mining sector remains competitive and a leader in favourable ESG practices.
To support the OMA Board in setting the priorities of the Association from the perspective of mine general managers and operational requirements.
OMA Strategic Plan Goal - To collectively pursue zero harm in all of our business endeavours, strengthen the Internal Responsibility System and to achieve reasonable, science-based legislation and regulation which enhances employee safety and supports production.
To provide advice to the employer members of the Mining Legislative Review Committee (MLRC) on changes to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and its regulations for Mines and Mining Plants. The MLRC is a statutory committee (s. 21, OHSA) that is appointed by the Minister of Labour (MLITSD) and co-chaired by employer and labour representatives to advise the Minister on legislative and regulatory actions that will promote the health of workers and safe working conditions in Ontario mines.

Workers' Compensation and Occupational Health
To provide advice and recommendations to the OMA Board of Directors and industry employer representatives on issues of workers’ compensation and occupational exposure and disease.
