The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum is the leading technical society of professionals in the Canadian minerals, metals, materials and energy industries, with over 14,000 national members. CIM’s Toronto branch is ideally located in close proximity to the head offices of many major mining corporations, as well as a centre for numerous junior mining companies.

CIM Toronto hosts luncheons throughout the year, each featuring a speaker presenting a timely issue relevant to the mining or petroleum industries. A golf event and other events also occur through the course of the year.

MMTS 2019

WHAT: Modern Mining & Technology Showcase 
WHEN: April 14, 2019
WHERE: Sudbury, Ontario

The event will take place Sunday April 14th at the New Sudbury Shopping Centre during mall hours (11am - 5pm). The showcase highlights the careers that make up the modern mining and technology industry.  Related exhibits from businesses, government agencies, and educational and industry partners and sponsors will be on display. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the advances in our industry and the opportunities found within modern mining.  Students and their families are encouraged to attend this free public event to learn more about what a career in the mining industry could look like.

The 17th North American Mine Ventilation Symposium (NAMVS 2019) in collaboration with The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) is pleased to announce the NAMVS 2019 symposium at the Montréal, Canada Palais des Congrès from April 28 to May 1, 2019.  

Since the first Symposium in 1982, the Underground Ventilation Committee (UVC) has sought to provide mine ventilation engineers and technicians in the underground coal, metal, and industrial mineral mining industry with the latest information and operating practices from the field. The Committee always promoted the exchange of ideas and research in a variety of related areas to include the monitoring of air contaminants, determining fresh air requirements, and producing power efficient ventilation and cooling systems and energy-related topics.  

The NAMVS 2019 is a peer-reviewed symposium scheduled to run for 3 days. Technical program of 3 days and 3 parallel streams of up to 100 peer-reviewed papers will be presented, 7 short courses, 16 exhibit booths, networking activities, a banquet and more. Attracts a total of approximately 300 delegates. In parallel with the 17th NAMVS, the CIM Annual Convention with over 400 booths is also scheduled.
