The Ontario Mining Association (OMA) Members Occupational Health and Safety Commitment is a statement of the commitment and expectations of OMA members to achieving a healthy work environment. This document is directed towards establishing workplace environments that promote zero harm and the physical and mental health of the employees of our members. It embraces the members' use of an integrated approach to the management of health, safety and the economic, technical and social processes of their business.

As a member of the OMA, we have a responsibility to provide a safe workplace and systems. We must ensure that everyone knows their duties, responsibilities and accountabilities as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations. We agree to comply, where applicable, with all standards and legislation of the provincial government respecting occupational health and safety.

With this in mind, it is the objective of the members of the OMA to collectively pursue zero harm in all of our business endeavours by exemplifying the following beliefs:

  • All injuries are preventable
  • Employees must participate in health and safety program development
  • All employees must receive safety training
  • All high risk tasks are to be mitigated
  • Accident prevention is good business
