Mining in Ontario
The full title of the introductory booklet Mining in Ontario is Mining in Ontario: A Wealth of Opportunity - A Wealth of Benefits. This publication was produced by the Ontario Mining Association with the support of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.
The short publication is intended to be a bit of primer on mining for people of all ages but particularly for school aged children. In a concise fashion, it aims to provide at least an introduction to the uses of minerals, the industry's community building role, the economic benefits and environmental responsible of the sector, the high-tech nature of the industry and the mining cycle from exploration, through production and mine closure and rehabilitation.
Mining is an industry with a long tradition in Ontario and it is an industry with a bright future. Society relies heavily on mining for the food our tables, the materials in our homes, our transportation and communications networks, entertainment the celebration of special relationships and events with precious metals and gemstones.
As well as being an industry we need, mining also offers a wide range of exciting and financial rewarding career prospects and virtually limitless entrepreneurial opportunities.
